A Total Sacrifice

21st Century

He left behind the place where he had grown ,
To walk along roads not many had known .
His food was given , his shelter was not ,
Though it was hard he accepted his lot .
This homeless man who walked from town to town ,
Was joined by twelve more who followed around .
God had chosen these twelve and made their wills ,
Now the followers were his disciples .
For they gave all they had to help the poor ,
They fed the hungry , and the sick where cured .
Miracles , wonders , untold mystery ,
Jesus calmed the storm when they were at sea .
He came to save , he fought and paid the cost .
Jesus came to find all those who where lost .
They called him Master , Messiah ,Teacher ,
He was Jesus , servant , healer , preacher .
In parables he spoke his Fathers word ,
All over the world the multitudes heard .
He asked people to love their enemies ,
Even when his own life they came to seize .
This peaceful man who set the captives free ,
Was taken prisoner in Gethsemane .
One of the few who knew him sold him out .
He was mocked , scourged , he was battered about .
Blinded by hatred unable to see ,
They crucified Jesus at Calvary .
