Angel Eyes

By Brian Okabayashi

21st Century

A face that night long ago
Into mine heart shivered
Resplendent far-forgotten fantasies.
They mauled my sense
And burned a passion effervescent
Upon the brimming cup
Overflowed my sensuous love.
I saw your beauty and beheld
All else was nothing,
The dross to perish in the fire,
Except save a wondrous,
A silken heart of gold
Of heaven's own sincerity.
That noble night
Under starlight I gaze'd
Toward her face and saw
What for so long I had dreamt:
My mind was in exultation,
And soul teemed with a new,
Searing sensation never yet known;
I stood long, staring in
A divinely ordained song:
A love of bold and beauty bright!
