On the Podium of the Zeppelin-Tribune, Nuremberg, Germany

By Melanie Consul

21st Century

In the steps of death
I Heard the chants
Saw the ranks
Of an army far too great
The sky grew dark
The crowd silenced
The world cried
As death took his podium

I Heard the drums of doom
As his evil words rang true
His banners flapping in ill wind
His mouth a devils grin
His time had come at last
As death took his podium

And in the final moment
His arm raised to the sky
Mankind was doomed to die
No mercy on his face
No love beneath his eyes
No child of the Lord
As death took his podium

My heart pounding in unknown fear
I blinked away my tears
The ranks of men
The drums of doom
The devil
Were no more?
As I left deaths Podium
