Haikuhouse

By Joe Duvernay

21st Century

There I am. I'm sold and solid
Run through with this tiring effort.
I've jumped hoop and rolled over.
         Master of all I see
         Captive of this forty-plus hour
         work week

Lord save us and the rest of this world from ourselves.
Save us from our unnecessary ambitions.

No froth that flows up
no frock that won't tuck.

Sarong touched from below
         with flapping canopied cover
It never rains in southern California

With vying heart and open sky
No one travels as I!
Said yon fool in full armour!
