my best friend

By Victoria Olson

21st Century

my constant,
the only one i can really count on
can never know how much i am let down,
this sinking heart is because of her,
and for the first time i can't run to her and tell her my pain.
to tell her would complicate her perfect life,
with a boyfriend,
who matters more to her than her life long friend.
lifelong didnt last as long as i thought it would,
and now the only one to hear my sobs is myself,
come comfort me, i need you now,
even if you dont know me anymore,
i need your shoulder,
that constant of mine,
that warm, loving face to tell me everything is okay,
but this sinking heart is because of you.
here, you can have it.
